Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation is pleased to host quarterly ʻĀINA Farm to School Field Trips for Educators throughout the 2018-19 school year.
ʻĀINA Farm to School Field Trips for Educators are fun and educational opportunities for O'ahu educators and docents who are participating in both the 'ĀINA Nutrition Education & Garden/Compost Curriculum Trainings and docents, teachers and parents from participating ʻĀINA schools to visit schools and farms in our Oʻahu Farm to School Network for learning and inspiration!
These field trips will provide the opportunity to tour a school participating in the ʻĀINA In Schools program and an organization that promotes Agricultural Literacy as a field trip destination. Below are dates for the ʻĀINA Farm to School Field Trips for Educators:
1. Saturday, November 17, 2018: 8:30am - 12:00pm (Waikīkī Elementary, Waikīkī Food Farm)
2. Saturday, February 9, 2019: 8:30am - 12:00pm (Leilehua HS, Sweet Land Farms)
3. Saturday, March 2, 2019: 8:30am - 12:00pm (Kainalu Elementary, Kākoʻo ʻŌiwi)

In addition to encouraging the use of locally grown fruits and vegetables in school meals and snacks, the program includes a standards-based nutrition, garden, and compost curriculum that empowers children to grow their own food, make informed food decisions, and reduce waste.
