Mahalo to all students from 8 different schools that participated in the 2023-24 Plastic Free Hawaiʻi School Mural Contest with this year’s theme: SEA a Solution to Plastic Pollution!
Now it’s time to cast your vote! From March 1st through April 20th, select your top three murals and help us choose a winner by using this form! The grand prize winner will receive an Elkay water refill station for their school and an in-person presentation from Upcycle Hawaiʻi for their class. All participants will receive gifts from Upcycle Hawaiʻi and Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation for their submissions.
We welcome you to join us on Saturday, April 20 for the Plastic Free Hawaiʻi Art Show to view all murals in-person, meet community partners, and learn more about how you can minimize the use of single-use plastics. Stay tuned for more details about the event! SEA you there!

Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service Beach Cleanup
On January 15, 2024, over 200+ participants gathered to clean the Kahuku Coastline on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the only federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service! Plastic Free Hawai’i at the North Shore Menehune Contest!
This weekend Kōkua Hawai‘i Foundation provided a water refill station to the North Shore Menehune Surf Competition to minimize the use of single-use plastic!
